Easy Crock Pot Cherry Dump Cake

With just three simple ingredients you can have a delicious and easy baked dessert with this recipe for Crock-Pot Cherry Dump Cake. Make it any time of the year without heating up the whole house! Serve it with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or whipped cream for a slow-cooker dessert that will impress!

A few months ago I bought myself a new Casserole Crock-Pot on Amazon because, well, because I wanted to add this new size of slow cooker to my collection. And I have to admit that it is slowly becoming on of my favorite crock-pots to use. The size and shape is just so versatile and I have been working on some recipes that will be coming soon to the blog here at Crock-Pot Ladies.

So the other day I was rooting around in my pantry looking for something to make for dessert. Over in the corner I spotted a box of yellow cake mix. Digging around in the canned goods I first spied some pineapple and immediately thought of making a pineapple upside down cake.

But then…I spotted them…two lonely little cans of cherry pie filling that I had picked up on clearance after Easter. And I immediately thought of doing a Crock-Pot Cherry Dump Cake!

My fellow Crock-Pot Lady Katie has done several of these dump cakes and they are just so darn super simple to make. And there really is just 3 ingredients…cherry pie filling, cake mix and butter. And you just DUMP them all in and cook them.

Is it diet friendly? – NOPE (hey, we never claimed to be a diet blog!)

Is it easy? – YEPPERS

Is it delicious? – AMAZING!

This recipe is perfect for tossing (or dumping) everything in the slow cooker when you get home from work. And by the time dinner is done, dishes are loaded in the dish washer and the kids have taken their baths it is dessert time.

Or if you stay at home…just make it no matter what time of day it is…I made mine mid-morning, let it cook just 2 hours and let the kids dig in for an after school snack.

This recipe is also great when you need to bring something to a pot luck…yep so good. And there will not be any leftovers…I promise!

To make this recipe gather your three ingredients….2 cans cherry pie filling, 1 box of yellow cake mix and 1 stick of butter.

Next, open the can of pie filling and dump it on in the bottom of your slow cooker. I used a 3.5 quart rectangular casserole slow cooker. Spread the pie filling out with a spatula so it covers the entire bottom.

Unwrap your stick of butter and place it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds, give it a stir and cook it another 30 seconds until it is melted.

Or melt in a small saucepan on the stove.

Whatever floats your boat.

Pour the dry cake mix into a bowl and dump in the melted butter and give it all a good stir.

It will be sort of dry still…it will not turn into a batter but more of a crumble/crust type texture.

Pour that cake mix and butter mixture all over your cherry pie filling.

Cover your crock-pot and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.

You can serve this dessert either warm, room temperature or chilled. I like it warm myself.

Oh heck…I could not wait for it to get to room temperature or chilled before I had to have some!

It is also amazing with some vanilla bean ice cream on top.

Enjoy!
