My dad Transforms Table Found On Side Of The Road Into Beautiful And Unique Furniture Piece

“Being a passionate yard sale enthusiast and antique collector, I can’t help but examine discarded furniture I stumble upon during my ventures. Similarly, DIY lover Alicia shares this predilection. In an intriguing story shared by Hometalk, Alicia discovered an old table left abandoned by the roadside and repurposed it into an eye-catching furniture piece.”

The antique table Alicia discovered was bereft of its two glass tops and bore the scars of scratches and cuts on the wooden parts. She embarked on the restoration process, first by stripping and sanding the table’s legs and frame. Then, she commenced the painting process using a layering technique. Simultaneously, she crafted a frame destined to host the cushion for the table’s top.

Alicia designed the cushion from thick foam, later swathing it in fabric featuring a French-inspired pattern. She weathered the legs and frame, giving the table an appealing shabby-chic character. Alicia put the final touches on the table with a coat of clear wax, allowing the table’s crevices to remain dark. This step added a unique look to the table’s finish, providing an engaging dimension.

Respecting the traditional aesthetics of benches, Alicia finished off the bottom part with felt, resulting in a clean, refined look. The final product was a beautiful, antique, French-inspired bench, perfect for gracing an entryway, living room, or bedroom.

Kudos to Alicia for such a fantastic job! Though I’m not particularly adept at handiwork, witnessing your inspiring DIY project surely tempts me to attempt upcycling furniture myself in the future!
