These Crispy Garlic Mushroom Bites are a delightful appetizer featuring tender mushrooms enveloped in a golden, crunchy breadcrumb coating. Infused with aromatic garlic and herbs, they offer a burst of flavor in every bite.
Ingredients
- 16 oz (about 20–25) small button or cremini mushrooms, stems trimmed
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 tsp dried parsley (or fresh parsley, chopped)
- 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or aioli (for dipping)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour seasoned with salt and pepper, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mix of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Dip each mushroom into the flour, then the eggs, and finally the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to coat well.
Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry mushrooms in batches for 2–3 minutes, turning to ensure even browning. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Remove mushrooms and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm with your preferred dipping sauce.
Notes
Use fresh garlic for more intense flavor, or garlic powder for convenience.
For a lighter version, bake the breaded mushrooms at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
Adjust seasonings to taste; add chili flakes for heat.
